Tour of “Anna Karenina” in Greece.

After a triumphant tour of the Vakhtangov Theatre in Athens, with the performances of “Uncle Vanya” (2012) and “Masquerade” (2013), the theatre was invited to Greece for the third time. In the mid-January, the Vakhtangov theatre presents a choreographic performance based on the novel of Leo Tolstoy “Anna Karenina”, directed by Anzelika Cholina on the stage of the BADMINTON Theatre. Set designer – Marius Jacovskis, costume and make-up designer- Juozas Statkevicius, lighting designer – Tadas Valeyka. Cast:

Anna Karenina – Olga Lerman, Alexei Karenin – Evgeny Knyazev, Aleksei Vronsky – Dmitry Solomykin, Stiva Oblonsky – Valery Ushakov, Dolly – Maria Volkova, Levin – Fedor Vorontsov, Kitty – Katerina Kramzina. The premiere was held at the end of the 90th anniversary season at the Vakhtangov Theatre, on April 28, 2012. Its success has exceeded all possible expectations.

The play was awarded “Villanueva 2013” theatre prize for best foreign performance of the year in Cuba; “Anna Karenina” received several nominations of the international theatre award “Golden Mask”, while Olga Lerman, the leading actress, became the recipient of the theatrical award “Crystal Turandot” in the category “The Best Newcomer”. Anna Karenina was already appreciated by the audiences of Havana, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Ulan-Ude, Omsk, Novosibirsk to mention a few.
