135th anniversary of Eugene Vakhtangov

12 February 2018

The Vakhtangov Theatre was founded in 1921 by Eugene Vakhtangov, a young brilliant student of Konstantin Stanislavsky. That Stanislavsky, who established the world-known Method.

Eugene Vakhtangov believed that the actor is the crucial element of any theatre performance. He also trusted that the essence of theatre should be ‘theatrical’ and created an onstage world of fantastic, magical, and fairy-tale events preserving at the same time Stanislavsky’s psychological acting inventions.

Each February we commemorate commemorate and express our gratitude to the genius establisher of our Theatre.
