Konstantin Monov

Konstantin Matveyevich Monov was born on 12 February 1911.
In 1933-1936 he attended the Vakhtangov Theatre School.
He worked at the Vakhtangov Theatre from 1936 till 1985.
There are preserved memories of the contemporaries that said him to be a very witty man, an author of many jokes, which were told all around Moscow. He was cheery, risky, played cards and billiards, in his young years he often played billiards with Vladimir Mayakovsky.
He was a virtuoso accompanist. Among those who he accompanied on the stage of the Vakhtangov Theatre and other concert halls were: I. S. Kozlovsky, А. N. Vertinsky, N. А. Obukhova, R. N. Simonov.
At the end of his life Konstantin Monov bequeathed all his modest savings to indigent actors of the Vakhtangov Theatre.
Konstantin Matveyevich Monov died on 11 August 1985.
