There are a lot of different performances in the repertoire of The Vakhtangov Theatre. But if you are in the mood for pondering and hearing the story of two old men, prepare to forget hilarity for two hours, prepare to discover the truth that will thrill you and maybe will resemble your own life. Today we want to speak out from the stage about ignorance, selfishness, mercy and compassion. And where to speak of it if not in the theatre.

The performance with a curious title “Last Moons” assembles two one-act plays – one by Italian playwright Furio Bordon and the other by German playwright Harold Muller. Both playwrights are not known in Russia. However both plays have been staged in 20 countries.

The play “Last Moons” was written in 1992 and in 1993 it was Alpha

shortlisted for the I.D.I. (Italian Drama Institute) Prize for “Best New Play of the Year”. It was performed in Italy by Marcello Mastroianni in 1995-1996 and happened to be the last theatre part of the great artist.

“Silent Night” by Harold Muller was written three decades ago and went over big in several countries.

There can be now national borders or geographical limits to the age. Old age can be peaceful and quite if spent in the bosom of the family but can also turn to be a disaster for a man abandoned by the dearest people.

A human is an only being on Earth knowing that one day he will die. Italian and German stories of two elderly people are performed piercingly and bitterly by outstanding Russian actors Irina Kupchenko and Vasily Lanovoy.

If after seeing the play the audience will turn to those, who are in need of them, or to those, who are about to face the decline of life, than we can consider our mission to be completed.

Running time: 3 hours with one intermission.

The play is recommended for audience older than 16 years (16 +).
